Governor's Volunteer Appreciation Day at the Maryland State Fair FAQs

State Fair Attendees

Governor Martin O’Malley extends an invitation to all Marylanders involved in volunteer service to spend a fun-filled Sunday at the Maryland State Fair. The Governor’s Volunteer Appreciation Day is presented by the GOSV and the Maryland State Fair. All volunteers, friends, and family are welcome!

Please Note: Due to severe weather on Sunday, August 26, the Maryland State Fair will be honoring passes this Sunday, September 2.

About the Event

I attended last Sunday, August 26, but the fair closed early due to the rain. Can I still participate?
Yes! Anyone who attended this past Sunday will be able to trade in their wrist bands for new ones, and people who have their admissions receipt can use that for admission as well.

When and where is the event held?
The Governor’s Volunteer Appreciation Day will be held on September 2, 2012* at the Maryland State Fairgrounds from 10:30 am until 5:00 pm. The Fairgrounds are located at 2200 York Road in Timonium.

I can’t make it on September 2, 2012; can I use the discount on another day?
No. The Governor’s Volunteer Appreciation Day passes are only accepted on September 2, 2012. The change of date is due to the severe weather last Sunday, August 26.

How much does it cost to enter the Fair?
Show your Governor's Volunteer Appreciation Day pass at the entrance gate, and 1-5 individuals will be admitted to the Fair for $2.00. Please remember to bring your pass with you. Failure to bring the pass will result in forfeiture of discount pricing.

Can I get free parking with this pass?
No. Transportation to and from the Fair is the responsibility of the patrons. The GOSV recommends using MTA or carpooling to the Maryland State Fair.

How much does it cost for children and/or other adults to enter the Fair?
Each Governor's Volunteer Appreciation Day pass will admit up to 5 individuals (anyone 5 years of age or over) to the Fair for $2.00. Adult admission without a pass is $8.00. Adults 62 and over: $6.00. Children 6-11: $3.00. Children under 5 are admitted for free (rides not included). A ticket is required for all persons aged 3 and over for concerts held in the Racetrack Infield.  Rides are not included. Rides are individually priced. Please note that many concession stands do not accept credit cards.
