Purpose of our Office
The Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism is part of the Maryland State Service Commission. Our primary mission is to promote service through recognition, provide training and allocate resources to AmeriCorps programs that enrich lives and communities through service and volunteerism. We accomplish this mission through our work with AmeriCorps programs and members throughout the state of Maryland.

UPDATE: Fall 2023 AmeriCorps Planning Grants NOW CLOSED
Successful applicants will work with the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism from Fall 2023 – August 2024 to develop a new AmeriCorps program.
Eligible organizations can apply for planning grants of up to $100,000 with the ability to expand up to $240,000 for those organizations that have projects that closely align with the Governors’ strategic priorities: climate, education, public safety, and public health.
