Arundhati (Aru) Rao is an Associate Professor of Accounting at Towson University. She grew up in Mumbai, India where she earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Commerce; she earned her Ph.D. from University of Cincinnati. She has been recognized for over 25 years of service that has impacted the lives of her students at public and private universities with the KPMG Mentoring Award. She also owns and operates a small tax practice that caters to the low-income residents in Harford County. She volunteered for the first time while in high school with the Rotary Club in Mumbai, India, and has continued to seek out opportunities at various organizations. Recently she served as the VITA site coordinator for the CASH Campaign in Harford County for three years and serves as a Training Officer for the USNSCC, a Naval Youth program in Baltimore, MD.
