Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism Announces Opening of AmeriCorps State Planning Grant Funding Opportunity
Federal Grants Fund Service Programs Across Maryland
ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism today announced the opening of the AmeriCorps state planning grant application process for the 2023 – 2024 service year.
“AmeriCorps planning grants allow Maryland based non-profit organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, faith based organizations, and community-based organizations to leverage federal funds in order to propel the governor’s strategic initiatives forward. These grants provide organizations the opportunity to lay the groundwork, conduct in-depth research, and engage stakeholders over the course of 10 months which sets the stage for intentional and impactful implementation of AmeriCorps Operational Grants” said Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism Director Samélia Okpodu-Pyuzza. “This investment allows Marylanders to maximize the impact of AmeriCorps service in addressing critical needs and advancing the governor’s vision for our state.”
These resources will support new AmeriCorps programs that strive to meet a wide variety of community needs throughout the state including those that are focused on educational intervention, climate and energy conservation solutions, public health innovation and public safety.
Successful applicants will work with the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism from October 2023 to August 2024 to develop a new AmeriCorps program. Eligible organizations can apply for planning grants of up to $100,000 with the ability to expand up to $240,000 for those organizations that have projects that closely align with the governor’s strategic priorities.
Planning grant applicants must submit the narrative, budget, and additional documents listed on the Notice of Funding Opportunity . Submissions must be emailed by 10:59 p.m. eastern on August 15.
